Buderus Hydronic Systems

Buderus photo High Mass + Low Operating Temperature = Maximum Efficiency

Higher Mass for Greater Economy
Buderus is our top choice. Buderus technology uses the water in the boiler and in the heating system to store energy and minimize burner cycles. You can think of burner cycling in the same way you think of using the gas pedal on your car. If you are continually gunning the gas or driving in stop and go city traffic, your mileage per gallon decreases. Since low mass boilers cannot store the volume of energy that high mass boilers can, the burner must stop and start frequently. Like city driving, this frequent burner cycling consumes more energy and puts more wear and tear on all components of the system.

Boilers with high mass, on the other hand, are like highway driving to a car. There's a lot of stored energy in that mass, which means you don't have to "step on the gas pedal" as often to keep its energy high. Fewer burner starts equals less fuel consumed and a longer life for all components.

Lower Temperature for Lower Heating Bills
Low operating temperature boilers have proven to be the most significant advancement in energy efficient boiler design. When it's colder outside, the operating temperature of the boiler rises. If the outdoor temperature rises, the operating temperature of the boiler drops. Less fuel burned means lower heating bills.

The Buderus boiler is designed to conserve energy and employs a silicon injected cast iron in it's construction. Cast iron components fit the requirements of modern combustion technology and possess the characteristics necessary for high performance and maximum efficiency. This technology enables Buderus boilers with Ecomatic controls to operate effectively at or near the dewpoint without suffering the corrosive effects that destroy conventional boilers. Buderus boilers can also be easily converted to natural gas or propane.

System 2000 photo Energy Kinetics
System 2000

System 2000 is an integrated heating and hot water system which can be used with either oil or gas, and -- thanks to its unique construction -- can be installed in homes with or without chimneys. System 2000, on average, cuts heat and hot water costs by nearly 40%. It has the highest seasonal efficiency of any commercially available oil system.

Ample Hot Water and Ample Savings
Because System 2000 is an integrated system, it can produce tremendous amounts of hot water for far less than conventional boilers. In fact, System 2000 produces enough hot water to run the dishwasher, the washing machine, and several showers all at the same time (virtually impossible with conventional boilers). The system also saves 50-60% of hot water costs compared to conventional boilers, and a whopping 68-79% compared to electric.

Digital Energy Manager Superior Efficiency To Comfort Your Budget
Most conventional boilers can claim to be "high efficiency" models, because the government's AFUE figures account only for the amount of heat that escapes up the chimney. But conventional boilers also waste heat in ways the government figures don't reflect. Over a year, waste accounts for almost half the money you spend on fuel! System 2000 prevents energy loss in many ways, due to its advanced construction. One particularly unique aspect of the system is its Digital Energy Manager. When the system shuts off, the manager directs a purge cycle which pumps any remaining heat in the boiler into living areas, or captures the heat in the domestic water storing it back in the top of the water tank, virtually eliminating jacket and standby losses.

Space Savings Too
Because of its compact boiler and integrated design, System 2000 takes up substantially less home space than most boiler and water tank combinations, whether gas or oil.

Burnham photo Burnham "V8 Series"
Cast Iron Oil-Fired Boilers

Not Your Typical Boiler
The oil-fired V8 is engineered and manufactured to provide years of dependable and efficient home heating. At the heart of every V8 is Burnham's durable cast iron heat exchanger, specially designed to operate under a variety of conditions, a claim that other boiler manufacturers can't make. All cast iron sections are produced in Burnham's state-of-the-art foundry in Zanesville, Ohio, ensuring quality and availability. Simply stated, the V8 Series boiler provides homeowners with a modern design, quiet operation, and superior performance for hot water or steam heating systems. With an annual fuel utilization efficiency of 86.3%, the V8 boiler can save you as much as 30% on your heating bills and pay for itself in just a few years.

Cast Iron Dependability - One Step Better
Cast iron has the unique ability to absorb and transfer heat quickly and efficiently while providing unmatched durability. The center cast iron sections of the Burnham V8 Series are as much as 40% larger than most, allowing for quicker heat transfer and a larger water surface. Designed to extract the maximum amount of heat, Burnham's cast iron sections reduce fuel consumption and save you money. Plus, cast iron quality and availability are ensured because all Burnham castings are produced in-house - a claim no other boiler manufacturer can make.

Other Features
Burnham's iron couplings are impervious to petroleum-based chemicals, including anti-freeze, which can deteriorate the gaskets used in some competitors' boilers. They expand and contract with the cast iron sections they join, ensuring the integrity of the entire section assembly. The V8 is designed for fast, efficient servicing. The burner and controls are covered in a UL listed metal housing unit color finished to match the boiler jacket. This housing improves the appearance and minimizes burner noise for quiet operation while it simultaneously protects calibrated settings on the controls.
