Hi-Velocity Systems:

Hi-Velocity systems are generally for central cooling in an existing home where it may be more difficult to add conventional ductwork. The hi-velocity ductwork is much smaller so it can fit into tighter spaces. This type of system can be used in any application if desired. You can also add a heat coil to the fan unit for central heating.

Advantages:

Fits into almost any space. Removes more humidity than most conventional systems.

Disadvantages:

Air is moving much faster than in other systems which may cause drafts and noise.

Key System Features:

COIL
Uses a larger evaporator coil in the indoor air handler for better dehumidification during air conditioning mode. The air is delivered by a powerful fan which creates a high velocity stream of air. The air enters the room through a 2″ outlet or an 8″ x ¾” slotter diffuser.

Case Study – Heat Pump

Our New England temperature fluctuations

Here in New England, the temperature can be 36 degrees overnight and then rise to the upper 70s or low 80s the next day! How do we avoid using precious oil or gas to heat the home during these fluctuations? Our customer didn’t want to switch to heat when they would only have to turn the air conditioner on later in the day.

Wilson Brothers recommended and installed an Evolution series Heat Pump by Bryant. Don’t let the name fool you – this is an air cooling system, but it also produces heat! It is a hybrid system that is very popular and highly efficient.

Added to the existing forced hot air system, the heat pump provides a steady, even comfort zone with its two-stage compressor system. It cools in the summer while removing excess humidity in the indoor air. And when the temperature dips, it warms the home with quiet reliable electrical operation, saving oil or gas. In addition, the system was eligible for a tax credit of 30% of the installed cost (up to $1,500) and a $600 rebate from their Electric Company.
